Anne Arundel County Police had a busy Friday night in Riva and Davidsonville. After a breaking and entering call in the 100 block of Remital Road in the Sylvan Shores neighborhood, police were on the lookout for a suspect. Local residents of the Riva community were on alert while police, K-9 units and the police helicopter searched the area around 7 p.m.
A little while later, around 8 p.m. in the 700 block of Governor’s Bridge Road in Davidsonville, near Strawberry Lane, police were called to a residence for a parking complaint. A complained citizen called in about an unknown pickup truck in a neighbor’s driveway. The aviation unit responded and could see the suspect loading items from the house into the truck. As officers arrived, the chopper could see the suspect run back into the house and not come back out.
Numerous police officers arrived at the scene and set up a perimeter around the house. K-9 entered the attached garage and announced his presence. The suspect was found hiding under a vehicle in the garage. He surrendered.
Police were able to find property from the Sylvan Shores burglary. The suspect, a white male, 17 (a juvenile), was not identified by police. No booking photo was released. It was learned, however, that he was driving a stolen vehicle. It was also learned that he is a repeat offender and was reported missing from a group home in LaPlata in Charles County.
The suspect is being charged with two counts of burglary, stolen vehicle and thefts. He also had two warrants. He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Services Cheltenham Youth Facility in Prince George’s County.
