Two Injured In ATV Accident
DAVIDSONVILLE, MD — A 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man
suffered serious injuries in an all-terrain vehicle accident Tuesday in
Davidsonville. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. According to the
Anne Arundel County Fire Department, two adults with passengers were driving
two ATVs in the 1600 block of Rossback Road.
The
individuals who sustained injuries were flown by medevac helicopter to R. Adams
Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The two other people involved in the accident did
not need medical attention at the hospital, the department stated.

Leonteen Hockett Passes Away
Leonteen Hockett, 85, of Severna Park, MD passed away on April 24, 2020 at her residence. Leonteen was born in Wayne County, NC, raised in Winston-Salem and graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School.
She also has lived in Wilmington, NC, Annapolis and Davidsonville, MD. Leonteen was a secretary for Anne Arundel County Board of Education. She enjoyed painting, drawing and participating in church activities. Leonteen was married to Fred Hockett on October 1, 1955, Fred passed in 2012.
She was the loving mother of Lynn Zephir (Bill) of Millersville, MD and Jennifer Snyder (Mark) of Lewes, DE. She was the dear grandmother of Christopher Madden (Carey), Sean Madden, Brittany Clay (Adam), Alexsandra Campbell (Zachary), Kristen Zimmerman (Paul) and Steven Snyder (Emily). Leonteen was also great-grandmother of 5 great-grandchildren. Burial Services will be Private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Center, 930 Point Pleasant Rd. Georgianna F. Amini-Majdi Passes Away
On April 13, 2020 Georgianna F. Amini-Majdi passed away peacefully at her residence in Davidsonville, Maryland. Born on February 20, 1920 in Iran, Mrs. Amini recently celebrated her 100th Birthday.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ahmad Amini, the devoted mother of the late John (Bijan) Menner, and a wonderful friend to all whose lives she touched. In addition to being a thoughtful and caring soul, Mrs. Amini possessed a terrific sense of humor. Although she passed away during a time of global uncertainty, Mrs. Amini truly enjoyed traveling the world and lived a full life as a wonderful and strong woman. She will be missed by many.
A celebration of Mrs. Amini's life may be held at a later date.

Joyce Casey Passes Away
Joyce Marie Casey passed into the Lord's loving arms on April 15, 2020.
Her brother Eddie and her parents, Cora and Ed Marshall, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Rory, their son Daniel and wife Allison, and grandsons Aiden and Declan.
Joyce grew up in New Rochelle, NY, and in Bowie MD, where she graduated from Bowie High School in 1973. Joyce's Program Administration career with NASA included work with Bendix Field Engineering, OAO Corp., Loral AeroSys and Lockheed Martin. She also provided administrative support to AMVETS National Service Organization. Joyce was an entrepreneur.
She was well known at the Anne Arundel County Farmer's Market for her home-grown flowers and herbs, and baked goods – turning her Davidsonville home into a gardening center and bakery. White pizza and Stromboli were her trademark baked items. She also loved crafting scrapbooks and greeting cards with her friends, and making dolls. Her culinary skills were also well-known and much appreciated by her friends and family – always 'over-the-top' at family functions and friendly meals. In 1998, when they moved from Bowie, Joyce and Rory joined the Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, Md. There, they enjoy the love and fellowship with the parish family and ministries, and especially spiritual enrichment guided by Father Andy Aaron. Joyce also leaves behind many friends, her Marshall family and Lawton family cousins, and her loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and their families. She also loved her puppies. Due to the prevailing pandemic environment and restrictions, a Catholic Mass and memorial celebration will be held later, when family and friends can gather freely. Charlotte Asher-Rogers Passes Away
Charlotte "Sissy" Marie Asher-Rogers passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on April 19, 2020. Charlotte was born on October 18, 1943 in Annapolis, Maryland.
She attended Annapolis High School and was in the graduating class of 1961. Charlotte and her husband James were married in 2010. She worked as a Deli Clerk at Safeway in Edgewater, MD. When Charlotte wasn't attending church at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting and traveling.
Charlotte is survived by her loving and devoted husband James M. Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. and Frances E. Asher, brothers, Robert H., Kenneth E. and James L. Asher and grandparents, Charlotte Crutchley and Edward A. Asher.
There will be a private visitation at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care on Saturday, April 25, 2020 with a private graveside at Hope Chapel Cemetery to follow. Pastrana Helps AA Co Schools
With the COVID-19 outbreak causing schools around the country to shut down, there are millions of children taking classes through video chatting platforms. However, this method of learning is not readily available to everyone. In order to help some of those that can't learn with a computer, action sports star Travis Pastrana is helping his mother deliver educational materials.
The man who helped create Nitro Circus posted a video on his Instagram account Monday that showed him and his mother sitting in a Subaru. He explained that he was on an important mission to help educate children. Although his role was mostly as a driver. He was serving as a chauffeur for the day while his mother delivered the necessary educational packets.

Face Coverings Required In AA Co
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — All shoppers entering retail stores in Anne Arundel County must wear face coverings starting Wednesday after County Executive Steuart Pittman and Anne Arundel Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman issued an order for public safety. Charles Connors Killed on March 8
Charles Daniel Connors III, who often worked at the Killarney House restaurant in Davidsonville during his short life, was stabbed to death on March 8, reportedly in a dispute over a girl friend.
Charlie, as the 21 year old was known to most, was stabbed repeatedly outside the Happy Harbor Waterfront Restaurant and Bar in Deale March 8. He died on the way to a trauma center that night.

AA Co Has 505 COVID 19 Cases
As of Thursday morning, Anne Arundel County has a total of 505 positive new coronavirus cases according to the Maryland Department of Health. The state has 6,185 confirmed cases and 138 deaths. More than 1,340 people have been hospitalized.
Elmer Sappington Passes Away
Elmer Hamilton Sappington died peacefully in his sleep in Frederick, MD on April 7, 2020 at the age of 84.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, Deborah; son-in-law, Joseph; grandchildren, Kerrie, Emily, Joseph; great grandchild, Samuel and sisters Sylvia and Betty. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; his son, Gary, his parents and two brothers.
Elmer was born on December 21, 1935 in Annapolis MD. He lived in Severna Park, MD where he married Patricia. He worked with his brother, Henry, at Sappington's Marina in the boat repair portion of the business. He moved with his wife and their two children to Davidsonville, MD into their dream house-a six acre farmette. He proceeded to make many additions and improvements to the property which included adding a pole barn and horse stables. Over the years the family lived with many animal family members including dogs, cats, horses and goats. Elmer was accomplished in his ability to fix almost anything. He and Patricia were also avid antique shoppers and collectors. He was an active member of the local Ruritan and steam and tractor organizations throughout Maryland. Over the past four years he has lived in Frederick, MD so he could be near his daughter who took over his care as his health declined.
Due to COVID19 restrictions, all services will be private. Because of Elmer's love of animals, memorial donations may be made in his name to a local animal rescue shelter.

Estelle Grimes Hall Passes Away
Estelle "Essie" Grimes Hall passed away peacefully at age 98 on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in Crownsville.
She was born in 1921 on a farm in Sudley, MD, to the late Oscar and Etta Grimes. As a young child, she moved to Hill Dale Farm in Davidsonville, and later graduated from Annapolis High School. She married John D. Hall Sr., a mariner for Exxon. They had two children, John Jr. and Rich. She spent the rest of her life in the Annapolis area, often in the company of her beloved extended family and many friends. An active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis, she also loved gardening, travelling, and photography. After her husband's retirement, they moved to Heritage Harbour where she was an enthusiastic participant in the community's activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a son John Jr. (Megan); and four siblings Glover (Doris), Margaret (Edward), Helen (Kenneth), and Oscar F. (Jean). Essie leaves behind a large and loving family, including her son Rich (Pam); six grandchildren Andy, Katie, Lindsay (Brian), Cory (Sally), Drew, and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to the current pandemic, her service will be held at a future date at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Evelyn Janice Africa, 101, a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, died April 3, 2020. Born in Annapolis on October 20, 1918, she graduated from Millersville Normal School. After working for many years on the family farm in Davidsonville, she then worked at Sears in Annapolis as a sales clerk for 12 years before retiring. Evelyn was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Crownsville, where she was very active and involved on numerous committees. She was also a member of the Davidsonville Homemakers Club and she enjoyed sewing, gardening and freezing and canning fruits and vegetables.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Janet Reno of Odenton, nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Africa, a son, David Africa, and seven siblings. Interment is private.
A memorial service will be held at a future date at St. Stephen's Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1110 St. Stephen's Church Road, Crownsville, MD 21032 or Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
