Stanley Stevens Kwiatkowski, 76, of Davidsonville, a retired Water Well Driller, died of natural causes on November 17.
Mr. Kwiatkowski founder of Atwater Drilling in Davidsonville retired in 2004 where he became a consultant in the Water Well Industry.
Born in Syosset, New York, the son of the late Florence and Stanley S. Kwiatkowski who was also a Water Well Driller and who was associated with some of the largest drilling operations in the Northeast. Mr. Kwiatkowski graduated from Oyster Bay High School, New York, in 1956. He was a volunteer Firemen for the Syosset Fire Department and supported his father who was a member and captain of the Hook and Ladder unit. He also followed his father's foot-steps in the water well drilling industry and at an earlier age received the nickname "Cement". He started as a driller's helper for the C.W. Lauman Company of Bethpage. He was part of the traveling drilling company that brought him to Bowie, Maryland in 1959 to drill the water wells for the City of Bowie. This is where he met his wife of 53 years, Ann Wayson. After marrying his wife in 1960, Shortly there after he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Chemical Weapons Instructor at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He left the Army to pursue his passion for water well drilling. On his return to Maryland, he formed his own water well company which is known today as Atwater Drilling. Since moving to Maryland, Mr. Kwiatkowski has made a significant impact in the water well industry in Anne Arundel County and Southern Maryland as well as making a huge difference by bringing quality water into the residential and commercial properties within the state of Maryland. Mr. Kwiatkowski has been a lifetime member of the Maryland / Delaware Well Association.
His hobbies were following the Association along with following his fellow well drillers and playing cards. He was a wealth of knowledge when it came to his industry. If there was a human encyclopedia for well drilling, it would be Stanley. He was known for his sense of humor and his off the wall jokes.
Surviving are his wife, Ann Wayson Kwiatkowski, two sons, Steven (Cathi) and Jason (Janet) of Edgewater and one daughter Brenda(Danny Haley) of Ormond Beach, FL; one sister Florence Sendrowski of Milton, DE and god-mother/aunt, Mary Gaida of Milton, DE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD 20765 on Thursday at 10:00 AM.
