Marlborough Hunt Races Still Looking For Site

For the third year in a row, the Marlborough Hunt Races weren't held in 2013.  The steeplechase races at the Davidsonville Roedown Farm had been held on a Sunday in early April for 35 years.
The property was sold two years ago following the death of previous owner, Hal C.B. Clagett, a former president of the hunt club.    Race committee chairman Christy Clagett said the club “still cannot come to agreement” with the new owners of the farm so they are looking at alternative sites for 2014, including the Naval Academy Dairy Farm though a ban on alcohol there is a problem.
The event regularly drew 5,000 racing fans, many of whom set up lavish tailgate spreads on the hill of the Harwood farm overlooking the grassy race course.   Held rain or shine  the event was the unofficial spring  “coming out” party for Anne Arundel County.
