DAVIDSONVILLE - A police officer was hospitalized Saturday after an oncoming car struck his vehicle, forcing him off the road and into the woods.
The crash occurred at 11:53 a.m. The male officer was traveling between W. Central Avenue and Vicksburg Drive in south county when a 2012 Toyota Avalon crossed the double yellow lines and hit the passenger side of the police car, said Lt. James Fredericks, Anne Arundel County police spokesman.
Three people, including the officer, the driver of the Avalon and his female passenger were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Fredericks said it appeared that no alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. Police plan to charge the male driver of the Avalon for failing to drive in his lane.
