Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel responded to a car crash at the main crossroads in Davidsonville, where MD424/Davidsonville Road and MD214/Central Avenue intersect, according to a news release from the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department spokesman Jason Cutler.
At the scene, emergency personnel found that a single vehicle had hit a tree. They determined that the driver of the vehicle was an off-duty firefighter for Woodland Beach VFD who was on his way to the station in Londontown for up-staffing due to the impending snowstorm.
Due to the severity of the injuries, the man, 30, was taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was listed in stable, but non life threatening condition. He was scheduled for surgery on Wednesday.
