Florence Smollon Passes Away

    Florence E. "Flo" Smollon, 90, a 20-year resident of Annapolis and previously of Davidsonville and Severna Park, MD, passed away on October 9, 2017, at Anne Arundel Medical Center. 
    Born on August 22, 1927, in Brooklyn, NY to the late William and Louise Kelly, Flo cherished her vocation as a wife and mother. She also worked for a while as the secretary to former Anne Arundel County Executive, Bob Pascal, and provided support to the Maryland State Legislature. Flo was a member of the Republican Women's Club, Harbor Hills Garden Club, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Severna Park and Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville. She enjoyed china painting, stained glass and instructing adult reading classes. Her greatest passion though was spending time with her family. 
    In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Frank John Smollon, Jr. who died in 2012; two of her children, Gregory Smollon and Karen Hill; two brothers, William and Donald Kelly and her sister, Dorothy LeValley. Two sons survive her, Frank (Rosemary) Smollon III of Riva, MD, and Michael (Alicia) Smollon of Annapolis; a son-in-law, Frederick Hill of Arnold; four grandsons, Frank IV, Jeffrey and Steven Smollon and Frederick Hill; a granddaughter, Kelly Garza, and nine great-grandchildren. 
    A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, followed by burial at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. Friends are invited to join the family afterward at Ginger Cove Friendship Hall, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis, MD.
