Man Injured In Riva Rd. Wreck

From the Capital-Gazette:
A Lothian man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries Tuesday after he crashed his car into a tree in Davidsonville, Anne Arundel County emergency services officials said.
Firefighters and police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Riva Road near Beards Point Road at 7:17 p.m.
Anne Arundel police said Christopher Lawrence Austell, 55, crashed his 2013 Volkswagen Passat into a tree off the roadway while he was driving southbound on Riva Road.
Austell was trapped in the car following the crash, an Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman said. It took emergency responders about 15 minutes to free him from the vehicle.
Austell was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with possibly life-threatening injuries.

Police said in a statement “alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor” to the crash. The department’s Traffic Safety Section is investigating the incident for potential charges.
