Stanley Chaney Passes Away

Stanley Lee Chaney, Jr., 72, a resident of Riva, MD for more than twenty-five years and previously of Berwyn Heights, MD, died on Saturday, December 24 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
Born on February 9, 1944 in Washington, D.C. to the late Pauline and Stanley Lee Chaney, Stan graduated from John Carroll High School and later served in the U.S. Army. He was an elevator mechanic with Otis Elevator until his retirement. Stan was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, MD and I.U.E.C. Local 10. He was an avid Redskins fan, enjoyed boating, vacationing in Rehoboth Beach and loved spending time with his family.
Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn "Beanie" Chaney in 2014. He is survived by his son, David Ricardo Lee Chaney of Riva, MD; his sister, Peggy Stanton of Waldorf, MD; his brothers-in-law, Michael (Denise) Cushman of Mandeville, LA and David (Gloria) Cushman of Southern Pines, NC: his nephew, Michael (Joyce) Dickerson and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will miss him and the many family events that were so much a part of Stan's life. But we rejoice in Stan's reunion with his beloved wife, Carolyn in the arms of God in heaven.
Friends are invited to celebrate Stan's life from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, December 29 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday, December 30 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
