Lawrence Winkler Passes Away

Lawrence Winkler "Larry," 89, a resident of Annapolis and a former longtime resident of Washington, D.C. died on Wednesday, December 14 in Annapolis. Born on September 2, 1927, in St. Louis, MO to the late Sam and Mildred Winkler, Larry served in the U.S. Navy and later earned a Ph.D. He was a professor at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. for many years and in his spare time enjoyed flying and golfing. 

Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 22 years, Barbara Winkler and his wife of 33 years, Glenda Winkler and his daughter, Andrea Wise. 

He is survived by his son, Doug (Pattie) Winkler of Davidsonville, MD; his sister, Ruth Mariam of St. Louis, MO and his grandchildren, Brendan, Kelsey and Angela; .

Friends are invited to celebrate Larry's life on Tuesday, December 20 from 5 to 7 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, December 21 at 1 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Ste D, Timonium, MD 21093.
