James Willson Passes Away

      James Ralph Willson, Sr., "Chickie", 91, a resident of Davidsonville, MD for 42 years, died at his home on September 17, 2015.
      Born on July 16, 1924 in Calvert County to the late James Brooke and Edith Victoria Willson, Chickie attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Annapolis. He served as a Shipfitter Third Class with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during World War II. Chickie started Willson's Septic Service in 1960 and also worked as a steamfitter and plumber at the U.S. Naval Academy for 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and being with his friends. He was a past Chancellor for the Knights of Pythias and a member of American Legion Post 7.
       Chickie was preceded in death by his first wife, Marion Sullivan Willson and his brother, Leonard R. Willson. He is survived by two sons, James R. Willson, Jr. of Rocky Mount, NC and Herbert R. Willson, Sr. of Davidsonville; three daughters, Shirley Ann Carr of West Virginia, Nancy Lynn Wood of Missouri and Jane Weakley of Virginia; his former wife, Mary Ford Willson; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Austin Nils Eriksson, Jr.
      Friends are invited to celebrate Chickie's life from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where Chickie's funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25. Interment at Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
