Ivan Bryant Passes Away


     Ivan Garnett Bryant "Doc", 82, a fifty-five year resident of Edgewater and Davidsonville, died on Friday, September 11 at Mandrin Inpatient Care Center in Harwood of natural causes.
     Born in Asbury, WV to the late Oscar and Minnie Bryant, Doc served in the U.S. Army and later worked in Davidsonville with Concrete Structures for 18 years and with Statewide Septic for 32 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 226 in Mayo and in his spare time, enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, bowling and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles.       In addition to his parents, Doc was preceded in death by his grandson, Paul E. Bryant, Jr. and his step-father, Homer Cox. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Flora Ann Bryant; children, Paul E. (Kim) Bryant of Deale, David A. (Sandy) Bryant and Patricia A. Smith both of Edgewater and Darrin E. (Lisa) Bryant of Annapolis; siblings, James H. Bryant of Davidsonville and Audrey Hiser of Caldwell, WV; grandchildren, Michael, Mathew, Mason and Tiffany Bryant, Glen Smith and Angela L. Felsen, he is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.
      Friends are invited to celebrate Doc's life from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm on Thursday at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, September 18. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
