Al DeCesaris Half-Way Thru Run
From The South River Source:
Al DeCesaris Marks Half-Way Point in Trek From Maine to Florida with a Run at Davidsonville Park
About six weeks ago, local attorney Al DeCesaris set off on foot from Lube, Maine to help raise money and awareness for Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS), a rare neurological disease that afflicts his young niece, Jenna Heck, a student at Davidsonville Elementary.
Al DeCesaris is running from Maine to Florida to help raise money and awareness for Sturge-Weber Syndrome.
DeCesaris’ plan is to run the length of the East Coast, starting in Lubec, Maine and finishing up in Key Largo, Florida as part of what he and his team are calling “Running the Coast for a Cure.”
After traveling through Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware, DeCesaris arrived in Maryland on Monday where he met up with his niece and several DAA soccer teams for a run around Davidsonville Park.
Today, Tuesday, Oct. 21, DeCesaris will take a break from running and participate in a fundraiser organized on behalf of “Running the Coast for a Cure” which is being held at theGreene Turtlein Annapolis. The fundraiser runs throughout the day with 20 percent of the gross sales being donated to “Running the Coast for the Cure.” DeCesaris will be on-hand from 6 to 8 p.m.
DeCesaris said he has run about 800 miles in 40 days. The total trek from Maine to Florida is 2,000 miles.
