From the CapitalGazette:
A 34-year-old woman was arrested Saturday in Annapolis after police found suspected heroin inside her sport utility vehicle, which she was using to drive around her 9-year-old daughter, city police said.
Rebecca Elizabeth Alexander of Davidsonville has been charged with one court of drug possession and one count of drug paraphernalia, according to online court records.
Police received an anonymous call around 5:20 p.m. Saturday reporting a woman driving with her child while under the influence of drugs. Police responded to the parking lot of the Annapolis Area Library, where they found the 2002 Mazda SUV still running with Alexander slouched behind the steering wheel, police said.
Police spoke with Alexander, who said she and her daughter were changing clothes before leaving the library. Alexander's appearance and behavior were indicative of someone under the influence of drugs, police said.
Police searched the vehicle and found a small bag of suspected heroin and a hypodermic needle inside a VHS jacket of the movie "Bambi."
Police found two other needles and a little more than a gram of suspected heroin together.
Alexander was arrested and taken to city police headquarters on Taylor Avenue for booking. She also was cited for driving on a suspended license, police said.
The 9-year-old was released to her grandfather, police said.
