Melvin J. Wachowiak Jr., 56, a 17-year resident of Davidsonville, died May 28 at his home.
Born on February 15, 1958 in Springfield, MA to Gloria and the late Melvin J. Wachowiak Sr., Melvin graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in Studio Art from Springfield College, and received a Master's in Art Conservation from the University of Delaware/Winterthur Museum Art Conservation Program. In 1989, he joined the Smithsonian Institution as a furniture conservator.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joanne Wachowiak; two children, Nikolas and Natalie Wachowiak of Davidsonville; his mother, Gloria Wachowiak; three brothers, Christopher (Nancy), Matthew and Carl Wachowiak; one sister, Mary (Jeff) Ballachino; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to a memorial service for Melvin at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 8 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road, Annapolis. Burial will be private.
