Carter and PSU Lax On TV Sat.

Davidsonville's Madison Carter and the fourth-seeded Penn State women’s lacrosse team advanced to its second-consecutive NCAA National Semifinals after defeating Princeton, 14-12, on Sunday, May 21,  in the quarterfinals.
The The Penn State University Nittany Lions will battle top-seeded Maryland at 5 p.m. on Friday at Gillette Stadium in the first semifinal before Boston College battles Navy to determine the two teams who will compete for a National Championship at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Both semifinals are available on ESPN3 and will be tape delayed on ESPNU on Saturday at 7 and 9 p.m., respectively. The National Championship game will air live on ESPNU.
THE MATCHUP
  • Penn State and Maryland will meet for the 55th time on Friday with the Terrapins holding a 39-14-1 advantage.
  • Maryland is Penn State’s most frequent opponent in women’s lacrosse as the two teams have played every season since 1973.
  • The Terps have won the last 12 meetings and 28 of the last 29 dating back to 1992.
  • In 2016 Penn State nearly defeated the Terps taking the 8-7 lead with just 10:27 to play after three consecutive goals, but Maryland used a 3-1 run to close the game and secure the one-goal victory, 10-9.
