Martha Jane Payne, 100, of Davidsonville passed away at Crofton Care on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
Martha was one of five children born to the late Robert and Elsie Anderson on April 3, 1916 in Forestville, MD. Martha worked at a bakery in the 30's making wedding cakes, cookies and pies. While working, Jane met her future husband James who was a delivery person to the bakery. Married in October of 1941 Jane and James were together for 68 years before his death in 2010. As a stay at home mom she raised their only child Michael. Jane enjoyed the outdoors and all of natures wonders. Besides her parents Jane was preceded in death by her husband James Payne. She is survived by her son Michael of Davidsonville; two grandchildren Michael (Suzie) Payne, Jr of Bowie, and Lisa (James) Brown of Crofton; and four great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11 am, Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the AAMC Foundation Office, 2001 medical Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401, or The National Audubon Society.
