Dorothy Vaughn Passes Away

Dorothy Marion "Dot" Vaughn, 84, a 40-year resident of Davidsonville and previously of Mitchellville, MD, passed away on July 31, 2016, at her home.
Born on May 25, 1932, in Hyattsville, MD, to the late George and Dorothy Moore, Dot graduated and married her high school sweetheart in 1950. She went to work for the US Government Accounting Office until her first child was born. She then shifted her focus to raising her children and providing a comfortable and welcoming home for her family and friends. Dot was a member of the Bay Area Community Church in Annapolis. She enjoyed gardening, boating, and water skiing, but her passion was her family. Dot especially loved spending time with her grandchildren around the family pool and at Ocean City.
In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Sowa and Shirley Barger. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Hubert "Red" Vaughn; three children: Geary Vaughn of Edgewater, Richard Vaughn of Annapolis, and Sharon Pickering of Annapolis; five grandchildren: Jason Vaughn, Stacey Gonzalez, Kyle Vaughn, and Kimberly and Scott Pickering.
All services will be private. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
