The 2016 All-Big Ten women's lacrosse team selections were announced on Wednesday morning. Penn State (11-4) nabbd six spots to cap off another outstanding season. Madison Cyr (Westminster, Md.) and Abby Smucker (Bel Air, Md.) became two-time All-Big Ten honorees and were both unanimous selections.
Cyr and Lazo were joined by Madison Carter (Davidsonville, Md.), Jenna Mosketti (Fallston, Md.),Steph Lazo (Stevensville, Md.) and Katie O’Donnell (West Chester, Pa.). Penn State and Maryland each has six players honored. The six all-conference honors match that of the 2003 team when Penn State had six All-ALC selections.
Carter has been one of the top freshmen in the country by scoring 39 goals (2.44 gpg) and pulling down 54 draw controls. Both totals are second best on the team. Carter has also been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on five occasions. In Big Ten play, Carter has averaged three goals per game, which is tied for fourth in the league.
