Richard Singleton Passes Away


    Richard Allen Singleton, Sr., 72, of Davidsonville, passed away on Sunday, January 17 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore after battling multiple strokes and severe trigeminal neuralgia over the past 18 months.
    Born on October 15, 1943 in Annapolis to the late Edward and Gertrude Singleton, Richard and his family moved to Baltimore after his father's return from the Army. Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965, receiving several service awards. He retired from Westinghouse/Northrop Grumman as a Configuration Manager after 32 years of dedicated service, where he earned multiple distinguished awards. He was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Deale, MD. Serving the Lord was important to Richard and was the foundation of the incredible legacy he built. Richard enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, supporting their various sporting events and working in his garden.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his sister, Deborah Hardy; his daughters, Denise Beasley, Dawn Johnson, Peggy Lynn Singleton-Wilson and Nechole Fullmer; his son, Richard Singleton Jr., fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Family and friends will be received on Thursday, January 21 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, 5965 Deale-Churchton Rd., Deale, MD 20751 where his funeral service will be held on Friday, January 22 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 West Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cedar Grove UMC, in Richard's name.
