Darlene Lattimer Passes Away

Darlene Lattimer, beloved daughter of the late Ernest N. Lattimer, Sr. and Alma Pearl Lattimer, was born in Neptune, NJ on Thursday, January 14, 1960. She was the youngest of five children and the only girl. Darlene peacefully departed this earthly life on the morning of Sunday, March 26, 2023.

Darlene received her education from Belmar Elementary School and graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1978. She later received an Associate of Arts degree in Transfer Studies from Anne Arundel Community College in May 2015. She moved to Maryland in 1985 and resided there until her death. After moving to Maryland, Darlene spent several years working for AT&T before settling into a long career at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, from where she retired in 2022.
Darlene had many roles in life: devoted daughter, sister, soulmate, best friend, dedicated employee, but most importantly she was a loving mother to her son, Kavon Witherspoon, and a faithful child of God. Darlene knew the Lord and was an "adopted" member of Union Memorial United Methodist Church in Davidsonville, Maryland, where she faithfully attended and was loved by all who knew her.
Darlene will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, distinctive laugh, boisterous personality, warm nature, and fun-loving spirit. You always knew when Darlene arrived! She was the life of the party and enjoyed traveling. Darlene also loved her dog, Diamond.
Darlene believed in giving people their flowers (figuratively and literally) while they could still smell them. She gave big hugs and the most thoughtful and unique gifts to her loved ones. She was also generous with her time and resources, especially in service to her church.

Darlene's life will always be cherished and remembered by her son: Kavon Witherspoon; her soulmate: Keith Witherspoon; four brothers: Ernest (Paula), Kevin (Clover), Stacey, and Dale; her lifelong friend and Kavon's Godmother: Claudette (Kay Kay) Tucker-Matheney (Richard); 6 nieces: Chanel, Jillian, Alexis, Tracey, Kiah, and Cortney; 2 great-nieces and a great-nephew; and a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.
