George Pavlidies Passes Away

George Alexander Pavlidies, 50, of Davidsonville, MD departed this life on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore due to various immunological complications. He waged a valiant 11 month struggle to overcome b cell lymphoblastic lymphoma that included a bone marrow transplant on November 16, 2017. Mr. Pavlidies was born on January 13, 1967 in Charleston, WV, the only son of the late Alexander G. and Helen Giannaras Pavlidies. During his formative years in the Mountain State, he was an active member of St. George Orthodox Cathedral, the Charleston High School Band, and the West Virginia Order of DeMolay. He was installed as State Master Counselor of the latter organization in 1986. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1985, matriculated at Glenville State College for 2 years, and graduated from Shepherd University in 1989. Early in his professional career, Mr Pavlidies held high level positions in sales with three different telecommunication companies. He later owned and operated Academy Linens, LLC, an Annapolis based commercial laundry enterprise, which served hotels and restaurants throughout the Baltimore-Washington metroplex. He made friends easily and left legions of them behind who are from all walks of life. His kindness, empathy, good nature, engaging personality, quick wit, and broad smile will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He packed more into the five decades of life that were granted to him than most people could have in the Biblical three score and ten. Mr. Pavlidies is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ann Richey Pavlidies, of Davidsonville; his daughter, Grace Ann Pavlidies; his sister, Nasia P. Butcher of Glenville, WV; his nieces, Alexis B. Dahlin of Philadelphia, PA and Elizabeth B. Rich of Cleveland, OH; a loving extended family; and his grieving Labrador Retriever, Mocha. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of a life well lived on Thursday, December 7 from 5 to 8 PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8 at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Grace A. Pavlidies College Fund.
