Connor Cox Sets School Records

Frostburg University football was very fortunate this year that a Division I transfer was available and just so happened to have a connection to the city in Allegany County. Connor Cox of Davidsonville  had departed Dayton and was willing to consider Frostburg because that happens to be the hometown of his mother.

“Connor’s mom was born and raised in Frostburg and he still has a ton of family here in town,” Frostburg head coach Fitzgerald said. “Tye and I thought if we could just get Connor on campus we could convince him to play here. Connor came for an official visit and we rolled out the red carpet.”
Cox has developed into the difference-maker those two coaches were hoping he could be and has played an integral role in turning around the Frostburg program. The South River High graduate has thrown for 5,824 yards and 58 touchdowns while leading the Frostburg  Bobcats to a 27-7 record during his three seasons as the starter setting school season and career records

Cox was named Offensive Rookie of the Year in the New Jersey Athletic Conference after throwing for 1,311 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 537 yards and three scores.
It has been a steady upward progression ever since with Cox passing for 1,864 yards and 17 touchdowns in leading Frostburg to a 10-1 record that included a Regents Cup victory over in-state rival Salisbury.
Cox took his game to another level this season, establishing career highs in every category in completing 185 of 310 passes (59.7) percent for career highs of 2,649 yards and 29 touchdowns. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior led the Bobcats to a 9-1 regular season record and at-large berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs where they won their first two playoff games before losing to the eventual Div III champion.
