Lyle Richard Fishter, 79, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Davidsonville, MD, passed away June 3, 2016 in Beebe Medical Center, after a 15-month fight with cancer.
Mr. Fishter, a 1954 Plainfield (NJ) High School graduate, was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He was a Senior Account Agent with Allstate Insurance for 37 years. The office in Lanham, MD that he owned still bears his name. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan, and never missed The O'Reilly Factor on television.
He was born October 26, 1936 in Plainfield, NJ, and was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Bohl Fishter, and his father Robert Fishter Sr. He was married for almost 50 years to Arline Schweitzer Fishter, who he referred to as "the love of his life." She was born in North Plainfield, NJ.
He is survived by his wife, and their two daughters, Colleen Fishter, of Gainesville, VA, and Donna Fishter, of Orlando, FL. Also surviving are his son, Daniel (Diane) McBride, of Salem, VA; his sister, Margaret (John) Grooms, of Piscataway, NJ; and his brother, Robert (Eileen) Fishter Jr., of Mount Wolf, PA. Preceding him in death was his brother, William (Randy, surviving) Fishter, of Upper Marlboro, MD.
Visitation is Friday, June 10, 2016 from 12:30-2pm at Melson's Funeral Home, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE, followed by services at 2:30 pm at New Life Bible Fellowship Church, 24771 Cannon Road, Long Neck, DE. Pastor Andrew Barnes will officiate.
Entombment will be Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11am at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 West Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J Williams Hwy #101, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
