Leon Long Passes Away

      Leon Allen Long, 79, of Annapolis, MD and Ft. Myers, FL peacefully passed to the Kingdom of Heaven on January 27, 2016 in Ft. Myers.
      Born in Roanoke, VA on June 16, 1936 to the late Lynnwood and Ruby Long, Leon grew up in Washington, D.C. and attended Chamberlain High School where he played multiple sports, including football. Leon was later employed as a lithographer at Hennage Creative Printers, Saul's Litho for 40 years and Graphic Systems. Leon spent countless hours coaching football and Little League baseball with the College Park Boys Club and was a positive influence on many young boys.
      Leon was a long term member of the Moose Club and an active member at Davidsonville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing, watching sporting events and supporting his beloved Redskins. Hosting countless parties and spending time with friends and family also brought him great joy.
      Leon is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Marie Long; children, Carl (Debbie) Spahn, Cindy Blum, Daniel (Mary Beth), Donald (Diane) and Douglas Long, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
      The Funeral service was  held at 10am on Monday, February 1 at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment National Memorial Park Cemetery in Falls Church, VA.
