Kenneth Budden Passes Away


    Kenneth August Budden of Davidsonville, MD, born on Dec. 27, 1930, formerly of Ewing Township, NJ, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, at the age of 89 in Glen Burnie MD. 
    Ken was the last survivor of parents Clarence Budden and Bernetta Budden-Barrett, stepfather Leonard Barrett, sister Dolores and brother Charles. Serving honorably in the Reserve and U.S. Army, he was stationed in Germany as a sergeant during the Korean War. Ken worked for several Fortune 500 firms within his lifetime; however, most notable were contributions made through his work as senior engineer for the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes during his tenure at NASA GSFC in Greenbelt, MD. Ken received numerous NASA awards, including a letter of commendation from Commander Willis Willoughby, Jr., US Navy, Washington DC. The pinnacle of Ken's career was realized when the Astronaut Corps presented him with NASA's highest, most prestigious award, entitled the Silver Snoopy. Ken was asked to join the team conducting preflight readiness for the final Atlantis Shuttle missions before retiring. Personally, Ken won many awards for Best in Show for the Mustangs and Model T vehicles he restored. His multifarious accomplishments continue to reflect an everlasting legacy to be celebrated. 
    Predeceased by his oldest daughter, Linda Rowe, Ken is survived by his children, Kenneth Budden, Diane DeJersey, Cheryl Alm and husband Donald, Kevin Budden, Wendie Zoltanski and husband Gregory; his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as his friend, Helen Crosby. A service will be held at BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ, on Friday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel.
