Lyn-Z Pastrana Adds World Championship

From the Capital Gazette:

Travis Pastrana is known worldwide for his various exploits and numerous accomplishments as a motorcycle rider, Rally Car driver and leader of the Nitro Circus tour.
Pastrana, who grew up in Annapolis and now resides in Davidsonville, was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
Not many people outside the action sports world know that Pastrana’s wife is an extremely talented skateboarder. Lyn-Z Adams Pastrana specializes in the vert discipline and was a pioneer among professional female skaters.
Lyn-Z Pastrana has captured eight medals – three gold, four silver, one bronze – in Skateboard Vert at the Summer X Games. She easily won the heart of Travis Pastrana, who stopped the show at Nitro Circus Live in Las Vegas to propose.
Lyn-Z, whose maiden name is Hawkins, has not competed much over the past decade after giving birth to daughters Addy Ruth in 2014 and Bristol Murphy in 2015. However, she’s still got it at 29 years old and proved that last weekend.
Lyn-Z Adams Pastrana was the winner of Skateboard Vert at the Barcelona 2019 World Roller Games. She received the lone United States berth into the world championship event and impressed the judges with her technical ability, execution and elevation.
“I’d say the height of my airs as compared to the competition made the difference,” said Lyn-Z, who captured her first world championship in 2009. “I’ve only done three contests in the last 10 years. I trained for about a week to get ready and I guess it was like riding a bike.”
Lyn-Z had originally been asked to serve as color commentator for the World Roller Games, but was not interested. She was somewhat surprised to receive an invitation to compete and took time from an Alaska vacation to register.
“Travis and I talked about it and we figured why not go for it. It was super fun and definitely felt good to win again,” Lyn-Z said. “Hopefully, this is a steppingstone toward getting this discipline of skating back into X Games and other competitions.”
Apparently, Skateboard Vert has taken a backseat to Skateboard Park and Skateboard Street, both of which are contested in the Summer Olympics.
